Non-Irish/EU Driving Licence Holders

If you do not hold an Irish/EU driver’s licence you may need to provide an International Driver’s Permit (IDP), depending on what country your national licence has been issued from.

If you hold a driver’s licence which does require you to have an International Driver’s Permit and can provide the necessary documentation you are authorised to drive on this licence up to 12 months of residency in Ireland.

If you hold a licence which does not require an IDP at the time of Sign Up you are also only authorised to drive on this licence up to 12 months in Ireland.

Once you exceed 12 months of residency in Ireland you can no longer drive on an international licence and must apply for a full Irish or EU driver’s licence.
