New Traffic Laws on Dublin’s Quays

As of yesterday, August 20th, new rules have come into play on the roads along the quays. There is now no right turn for traffic on Bachelors Walk to O’Connell Bridge, except for buses, taxis and bicycles.

On the north quays, there is now a new road layout from Ormond Quay Upper to Eden Quay with additional bus lanes and general traffic reduced to one lane. New bus priority traffic signals on Bachelors Walk, approximately 100 metres before O’Connell Bridge, will control traffic flows and give priority to public transport.

On the south quays, there will be a similar new road layout from Burgh Quay to Essex Quay, again with additional bus lanes and general traffic reduced to one lane.

The move comes with hope that these changes will reduce delays for public transport and ensure that the LUAS Cross City project is introduced with no delays to its service.

On this dreary Monday morning it seems to have pleased a few people on their first commute within the new laws.
